Effective September 1, 2019, RAMQ started paying $250 for corrective eyewear for anyone under age 18 – per two-year period. Repayment is only eligible for corrective eyewear purchased from a merchant in Quebec. This applies to both online and in-store purchases.
With this coverage, RAMQ’s goal is to help children reach their full potential in school, by helping to improve their vision. This is part of a bigger plan to:
- lower the dropout rate
- improve access to quality health-care for children in Quebec
How will this affect plan members?
We’ll continue to pay for eyewear up to the maximum amount outlined in plan contracts and benefit booklets.
Sun Life will notify plan members in Quebec of RAMQ’s changes and what they mean to them, through the my Sun Life Mobile app and mysunlife.ca. And, if they have any questions or concerns, they can also contact us at 1-800-361-6212.
