For Canadian Sun Life plan sponsors that have employees living and working in the United States. North2South Benefits Solution delivers simplicity, convenience, and confidence to Canadian employers with a small number of U.S. employees.

North2South Benefits Solutions gives you access to ‘big company’ coverage for as few as 2 U.S.-based employees. It is a comprehensive, flexible program built around standard medical and dental benefit options.

We work with Aetna International1 to offer your U.S.-based employees full coverage including major medical.

Who is eligible?

  • Employees who work and reside in the U.S. for a Canadian company (including subsidiaries, divisions or branch office of the Canadian company)
  • Employees must be full-time, actively at work for a minimum of 30 hours per week

For Canadian Sun Life plan sponsors with expatriate employees around the world. Global2Go offers comprehensive coverage for employees working outside of Canada, including those in hazardous jobs.  

We’ve aligned with MSH international (Mobility Saint Honore International)2, a leading provider of expatriate insurance solutions to ensure you and your employees have the best coverage and customer service available on the market.

IHP benefit program is designed for Sun Life plan sponsors with employees who have recently arrived or returned to Canada. This program provides coverage during the waiting period for government sponsored health coverage.

Who should be enrolled?

  • In-bound foreign workers and their eligible dependents (regular IHP)
  • In-bound eligible dependents of Canadian workers (Dependent only IHP)

Who is not eligible for IHP?

  • Visitors to Canada (visiting, not working in Canada for our plan sponsors)
  • Plan members and/or dependents who are not living in Canada
  • Dependents of plan members who live outside of Canada

For Sun Life plan sponsors with employees in both Canada and the United States. This program provides a joint solution to cover all plan members in a cost-effective manner. This benefit program gives plan sponsors a one-carrier solution across both Canada and the U.S.3

We offer specialized multinational pooling solutions for global employers with benefits plans in various countries through our participation in the Generali Employee Benefits (GEB) Network4.  

What is multinational pooling? (MNP)

MNP is a financial tool to allow multinational companies to combine their employee benefits contracts for their subsidiaries around the world into one centralized account.

Who are these products for?

We can offer group benefits solutions through the GEB Network to:

  • Sun Life Financial plan sponsors who want to provide group benefits coverage to a group of foreign nationals (foreign employees working in their own country for a division or subsidiary of a Canadian business).
  • Global companies interested in multinational pooling arrangements to manage their benefits costs globally.
  • Global companies based outside Canada who want to provide group benefits coverage to their Canadian employees working in Canada.
