Sloane Litchen

Sloane Litchen is Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Sun Life Canada. In this role, she leads the Canadian Legal Team and provides strategic advice and counsel to Sun Life’s Canadian businesses. Sloane is a member of Sun Life’s Canadian Executive Team and the global Senior Legal Leadership Team.

With over two decades of experience, Sloane has built a career advising large financial institutions, both as in-house counsel and in private practice. She began her career at Canada Life as in-house litigation counsel, following which she practiced as a litigator at McCague Borlack LLP. Before joining Sun Life, Sloane spent nine years at TD Bank Group, where she progressed through increasingly senior roles within Wealth Compliance. Since joining Sun Life in 2016, Sloane has held various legal leadership roles spanning Sun Life’s health, wealth, and protection businesses in Canada.

Sloane's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion was recognized in 2023 when she received the Blakes Judy L. Wilson Diversity award at the Canadian General Counsel Awards. This award recognizes in-house law departments that demonstrate innovative approaches to promoting diverse and inclusive work environments within their organization or across their industry.

Sloane holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University.
