Closure of Sun Life Unconstrained International Equity Segregated Fund
Plan sponsors may wish to consider whether this investment news has any implications for the investment options available within their plans. Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada purchases units of the funds listed below, which are established as segregated funds in accordance with the Insurance Companies Act (Canada).
You don't have to take any action as a result of this fund closure, since there are no plan sponsor assets in the closing fund.
Effective immediately, Sun Life will no longer offer the Sun Life Unconstrained International Equity Segregated Fund (the Fund) as part of the Core investment platform. We’ll close the Fund by June 30, 2025. SLGI is the manager of the Fund and JP Morgan is the sub-advisor. We’ll continue to conduct governance on the Fund until its closure.
We removed the Fund due to lack of client interest (and assets) in the Fund.
A few plan sponsors offer the Fund; however, the Fund has no money left in it. If you want to replace the fund in your Plan as an option for members, we recommend the Jarislowsky Fraser International Equity Segregated Fund as it is a similar option to the closing Fund. However, given there are no plan sponsor assets in the fund, you do not need to replace it or move money out.
