Fraud Prevention: reduce risk and protect your employees

March 07, 2024

March is Fraud Prevention Month

Benefits fraud and abuse impact heavily on your group plan. It often results in higher premium costs and reduced coverage for your employees. This places the sustainability of your plan at risk. It’s important to know that you play a proactive role in reducing the risk.

This March, we’re raising awareness about:

  • the effects of fraud and abuse on your group plan and;
  • how you and your employees can better protect yourselves.

Reduce the risk of benefits fraud

Fraud prevention education is essential. This month, Sun Life partnered with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO)1 to spread fraud awareness. The Serious Fraud Office is a joint ministerial initiative with the Ontario Provincial Police as the lead policing agency. The SFO investigates and prosecutes fraud that has a serious impact on society.

It’s more important than ever to understand fraud and how to avoid it. Sun Life has learning resources for you and your employees. When you and your employees know how fraud happens, you can help reduce the risk. Everybody wins when your group plan remains sustainable!
