Our new infographic honours this year’s #EmbraceEquity theme. It also outlines steps that can be taken to better support women’s health in Client plans. We’ll share a Focus Update with plan sponsors on March 8, 2023.

Support for women’s health needs

The pandemic has sharpened the focus on the unique health needs of women. Mental health remains a key concern, with claims and treatments more prevalent among women than men. But women face many other health challenges that require greater awareness and support.

Women make up 48% of the Canadian workforce, and many have group benefits coverage.1 To ensure women find the benefits support they need, we are educating employers through a variety of channels. One, specifically, is our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) Playbook, which reflects results of our national survey of employed Canadians with group benefits. In that survey, 33% of women said their group benefits plan didn’t provide enough coverage to meet their needs. This compares to just 17% of men.2
