What can you do when you connect with Sun Life through Alexa?

Looking for a pharmacy in your area because it’s time for your prescription renewals? Ella can help! Just say “Alexa, open Sun Life.”

Through Lumino Provider Search, Ella can help you find a pharmacy, dentist, psychologist and many other health-care providers.

These providers offer in-person or virtual visits. You can also sort the providers by location, cost, ratings and type of service offered. 

For some providers, Ella can go even further by letting you request or book appointments.

Check your coverage details and claim status

Depending on your Sun Life plan, you can check coverage details for selected services such as your:

  • remaining balance
  • coverage limit
  • percentage covered
  • deductible

Ella can also help you get a status update on your recent medical or dental claim. You can even check your Health Spending Account or Personal Spending Account balances, if applicable.

You’ll need to link your Sun Life account to use this feature get started now.

Check your workplace investments

Depending on your plan set-up, you can check your workplace investment total and personal rates of return.

You can also check each of your product balances.

We’ve made it easier to connect your Sun Life account with Alexa!

All you need to do is open the my Sun Life mobile app and navigate to the More menu. Under the Devices section, click on “Link Alexa” and go from there!

OR, you can follow these steps:

1. Download the Alexa app available for iPhone and Android devices. 

2. Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.

3. Search for the Sun Life skill.

4. Click Enable to use. If you’re a Sun Life plan member, you can now link your account.

i. Choose I am a Client.

ii. Enter your Sun Life sign-in ID and password (which is the same as your mysunlife.ca login details).

iii. Select Connect.

iv. Create a 4-digit voice security PIN.

You’re all set! To get started, simply say “Alexa, open Sun Life.”

  • As an added layer of security, you’ll need to say your 4-digit PIN to get your account details. This PIN is unique to you. It is separate from your mysunlife.ca login credentials and PIN codes used for other accounts and services. Please do not share this PIN with anyone else as it gives you access to details that may be confidential. Please use caution when saying your PIN as people nearby may overhear you.

  • To use Lumino Provider Search:

    1. If you’re a Client, you can enable the Sun Life skill from the my Sun Life mobile app. Or, you can enable the skill using the Alexa app on your phone.
    2. Open the Sun Life skill by saying, “Alexa, open Sun Life.” or you can also start by saying:
      • “Alexa, ask Sun Life to find me a psychologist who offers virtual visits”
      • "Alexa, ask Sun Life to schedule an appointment with my favourite chiropractor."
      • "Alexa, ask Sun life to find me the highest rated massage therapist.”

    You can use this search to find:

    • Massage Therapists
    • Dentists
    • Physiotherapists
    • Psychologists
    • Chiropractors
    • Chiropodists
    • Pharmacies 

     

    • Optometrists
    • Optical Stores
    • Ophthalmologists
    • Naturopaths
    • Osteopaths
    • Podiatrists

     

  • To check your benefits details and status of your claim:

    1. If you’re a Client, you can enable the Sun Life skill from the my Sun life mobile app. Or, you can enable the skill using the Alexa app on your phone.
    2. Open the Sun Life skill by saying, “Alexa, open Sun Life.”
      • Get your coverage details, such as remaining balance, limit, percentage covered or deductible. Coverage details are available for: Prescription glasses, Contact lenses, Optometry, Massage therapy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic services, Psychological services and common Dental procedures.
        • You can ask, “Am I covered for Contact Lenses?”
      • Check the status of your recent claims for Medical or Dental.
        • You can ask, “What is the status of my recent claims?”
      • Check your Account Balance.
        • You can ask, “Can you check my HSA balance?"
    3. You’ll need to say your 4-digit voice security PIN. Please use caution when saying your PIN, as people nearby may overhear you.
    4. Once you’re logged in, Ella will help you check your benefit details and/or the status of your claim.

     

  • To review your workplace investments:

    1. If you’re a Client, you can enable the Sun Life skill from the my Sun life mobile app. Or, you can enable the skill using the Alexa app on your phone.
    2. Open the Sun Life skill by saying, “Alexa, launch Sun Life.”
      • Check your balance.
        • You can ask, “Check my workplace investments.”
      • Get personal rate of return for your workplace investments.
        • You can ask, “What is the rate of return of my workplace investments?”
      • Check your product balance.
        • You can ask, “Check my RRSP balance.”
    3. To hear your details, you’ll need to say your 4-digit voice security PIN. Please use caution when saying your PIN as people nearby may overhear you.
    4. Once you log in, Ella will help you check your investments.
