This is a partial list of common conditions that result in uninsurability for Personal Health Insurance, there may be other conditions that may also be uninsurable. Please do not submit a Personal Health Insurance application for coverage if you have one of these conditions. You can still submit a Health Coverage Choice application if you have one of these conditions and meet the Health Coverage Choice eligibility criteria.
- AIDS or tested positive for HIV within the last 12 months
- Alzheimer's disease
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Angina within the last 5 years
- Anorexia nervosa/bulimia within the last 5 years
- Anxiety, depression or mood disorder resulting in hospitalization within the last 12 months
- Cancer (within the last 5 years)
- Cardiac Arrest
- Cardiomyopathy
- Cerebral palsy
- Cerebral aneurysm unoperated
- Cirrhosis of the liver
- Clinically Isolated Syndrome
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) including treatment by angioplasty or coronary bypass grafting (CABG) within the last 5 years
- Cystic fibrosis
- Dementia
- Drug / alcohol abuse (within the last 5 years)
- Dystonia
- Heart attack within the last 5 years
- Heart valve replacement within the last 5 years
- Hepatitis B, C, D (chronic)
- Height and Weight – BMI more than 45
- Hydrocephalus
- Huntington’s chorea
- Kidney failure
- Liver disease (chronic)
- Lou Gehrig’s Disease
- Lupus systemic / erythematosus
- Major organ transplant (Bone marrow, liver, kidney, heart, lung)
- Multiple sclerosis
- Muscular dystrophy
- Neurogenic Bladder
- Parkinson's disease
- Polycystic Kidney Disease (PCKD)
- Permanent paralysis
- Stroke (cerebral vascular accident) within the last 5 years
- Suicide attempt within the last 3 years
