Yes, you’ll have to answer some questions if you apply for $50,000 or more of life insurance. Questions generally require a yes or no answer. The purpose is to learn your medical history and find out if we need more information about you. Depending on your answers, we may ask for a medical exam.

Does Sun Life offer life insurance online with no medical exams?

Yes, you can get 2 types of life insurance coverage online without any medical exams.

• Guaranteed Life Insurance: No medical questions asked. No medical exam is needed.
• Simplified Term Life Insurance: We only ask 3 health questions during the online application. No medical exam is needed.

You may be able to skip medical exams for Term Life insurance if you’re:

• age 40 or below and healthy
• between the ages of 41-50, healthy, and applying for coverage up to $500,000

Underwriting determines if you’re healthy based on the responses to the health questions on your application.

Life insurance provides you with a benefit for the unexpected. You may end up paying more than the actual death benefit that goes to your beneficiaries.

For example, you're aged 48 and purchase $25,000 of Sun Life Go Guaranteed Life Insurance for $60 per month. By the time you reach age 82, you'll have paid more than your total death benefit. If your death happens before age 82 you'll have paid less for your death benefit.

Coverage for $25,000 or less starts when you complete your application online.

For life insurance coverage between $50,000 and $2 million, your actual policy starts the first day of the month after we approve your application.

Yes, there are.

We won’t pay the death benefit if you take your own life, within the first two years, regardless of whether you had a mental illness or understood or intended the consequences of your action(s).
