Dr. Josep Iglesies-Grau is a Catalan cardiologist. He has been working at the Montreal Heart Institute since January 2024. Dr. Iglesies-Grau was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at Université de Montréal. He is also a member of the Researcher Assembly of the Montreal Heart Institute Research Centre.
His professional interests include physical exercise, nutrition, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, remission of cardiovascular risk factors, the relationship between the heart and brain, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
Dr. Josep Iglesies-Grau is a researcher with a passion for cardiovascular prevention.
He studied from 2007 to 2013 to obtain his medical degree. Dr. Iglesies-Grau continued his medical career in cardiology by completing his residency in 2019 in Catalonia; and he also obtained a graduate degree in statistics in the field of health sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain.
From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Iglesies-Grau completed a clinical fellowship in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation at the EPIC Centre and the Montreal Heart Institute. He completed a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Université de Montréal under the supervision of Dr. Louis Bherer and Dr. Nadia Bouabdallaoui.
He also obtained a doctorate in Medicine and Health (Ph.D.) from the University of Girona, in Catalonia. His thesis defence in June 2024 explored the association of non-traditional risk factors, including the association between early insulin resistance and the onset of subclinical atherosclerosis in low-risk adults.
Dr. Josep Iglesies-Grau has published 20 scientific papers in the field of cardiovascular disease.
In addition to his other work, Dr. Josep Iglesies-Grau has participated in numerous symposia, scientific events and public conferences as a guest speaker on the subject of cardiovascular prevention, with the goal of sharing tips for healthier living.
