1. Set your career goals

If you are ready to make a career change, or to land your first professional role, it’s important to take the time to consider your goals. Whether you are pursuing a defined path to a future goal or exploring something brand new, being clear about what you want will make it easier to achieve.

2. Learn about Sun Life

Now that you are clear on your career goals, you can get to know Sun Life better. Our website is a great place to start exploring our business. You’ll be able to learn about our business groups and get a sense of the deep commitment we have to our Purpose. Then you can explore our career site and follow us on LinkedIn for regular company updates and to learn more about our culture and what it’s like to work here.

3. Discover and apply

  • Start looking at open opportunities that match your skills, abilities, and career goals. Sun Life may have several openings that interest you. We suggest focusing your application on your first choice.
  • When you click apply, you will be directed to Workday [where you can either create a new profile to apply, or login if you are a returning candidate]. Depending on your experience and your profile, your application should take anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes.
  • Once you have applied, you will receive a confirmation e-mail to access the application tracker under your profile. If your skills are not aligned with the requirements of the role, we’ll let you know. You can view the status of your application anytime by logging into your account and navigating to the “my applications” section.
  • We know you will be waiting for an update after you apply, and keeping you updated on the recruitment process is important to us. We are committed to letting you know the status of your application as soon as possible.

4. Join a virtual conversation with our recruitment team

If your profile shows potential as a match for a job you've applied for, a Sun Life Talent Acquisition Consultant will reach out for an initial conversation. This is an opportunity to discuss the opportunity and share more about what you would bring to the role. It’s also the time for you to ask questions and discover more about working at Sun Life.

Your Talent Acquisition Consultant is your first point of contact and will be there to talk through the process, answer any questions or to provide feedback during the recruitment process.

5. Interview with the hiring manager

When you reach this stage, you will meet the hiring manager who will explore your candidacy in greater detail to understand your unique strengths, experiences and skills related the role. You may also have the chance to meet team members or other stakeholders, which is great way to hear more about our culture and ways of working. You may be asked to complete a technical or behavioural assessment depending on the role you are exploring with us.

6. Reflect and determine next steps

After the interview stage is complete, you’ll be ready to reflect on the role and the opportunity to join our team. On our side, we will consolidate your application and interview data for a comprehensive review. This may result in an offer, but keep in mind that many Sun Life colleagues applied for more than one role before being hired. If your first application doesn’t result in an offer, don’t hesitate to apply to other Sun Life roles in the future.
