Canadian Pension Risk Strategies Summit
WORKSHOP: Is it time to detox your pension plan?
Pension plans in Canada are at their healthiest point since 2008 with many solvency ratios close to 100%. It may be time to clean out the unhealthy toxins that could harm your pension plan when the next market “pandemic" hits. This workshop outlined how forward thinking CFOs are leading the charge on whipping their plans into better shape, while providing compelling new data on the remedies available to plan sponsors.
PANEL DISCUSSION: How game changing are the new funding rules on investment policy?
Participant: Mathieu Tessier
With the elimination of solvency funding in Quebec and the relaxing of solvency requirements in Ontario and other jurisdictions beginning to look at their versions of permanent solvency funding relief, the pension risk management landscape is definitely changing for plan sponsors. The biggest question on most plan sponsors' minds are should they be changing their approach to asset allocation decisions with respect to managing risk. In this panel discussion, plan sponsors and industry experts discussed various approaches and points of view on how changes in minimum funding regulations should or should not impact what plan sponsors do with their asset mix decisions.
