Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), and Dependent Life are required parts of the SunAdvantage package.
Life insurance provides basic financial protection to an employee’s beneficiary if the employee dies. Most plans provide life insurance in multiples of the employee's salary, or as a flat amount.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
AD&D pays an additional benefit if an employee dies, loses a limb, is paralyzed or loses hearing, speech or sight from an accident.
Dependent life insurance provides financial protection to an employee if his or her spouse or child dies. The insurance is provided as a flat amount.
This benefit helps employees and their dependants pay for necessary medical expenses that aren't covered by their provincial plan. Employees can choose an annual deductible and/or a reimbursement level for drugs.

Short-Term Disability (STD) insurance provides partial replacement of lost income if an employee is temporarily unable to work. It covers injuries and illnesses not related to work, and bridges the period until the employee is able to return to work or until long-term disability benefits start.
Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance assures financial assistance if an employee cannot work for an extended period of time. It supplements disability benefits available from government programs, such as the Canada or Quebec Pension Plan and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

Optional Critical Illness Insurance (CII) provides a one-time, lump-sum payment1 if an employee is diagnosed with a covered critical condition – such as cancer, heart attack or stroke – and survives a specified period of time (usually 30 days). Optional CII is available alongside any other benefits you may already provide to your employees… at no cost to you!
How an employee spends this money is completely up to them. They can cover everyday expenses, pay for medical treatment, modify their home – the choice is theirs. They could even use the benefit to supplement income if a loved one needs to take time off work to care for them.

Optional Life Insurance is available over and above any coverage you may already provide to your employees. This optional additional coverage allows your employees to tailor their coverage to meet their unique needs.
You can use your group buying power to make coverage available to all of your employees and their spouses, as long as they are Canadian residents under the age of 65.
Optional Life Insurance pricing is based on age, gender, smoking status and the amount of coverage and usually costs employees less than stand-alone insurance products.

Health Coverage Choice - Extended Health Care Insurance is available for employees who retire, or leave their workplace or group retiree plan for
Employees can enrol for coverage, without having to submit proof of good health, within 60 days of their group coverage ending. There’s no need for a medical exam, and no appointment is necessary.
How much does it cost and how do employees get it?
Getting a quote or enrolling is easy. Employees can visit Health Coverage Choice or call 1-877-893-9893 for product details, to get a quote and apply for coverage. Licensed financial services consultants (registered as financial security advisors in Quebec) are available by phone Monday to Friday,
8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
