Travel guidance from the Government of Canada has changed. Clients may have questions about their coverage if they’re considering traveling as restrictions lift. You can remind them about the emergency travel medical coverage on their Personal Health Insurance (PHI) and Health Coverage Choice (HCC) policies.
Here are a few emergency travel medical coverage reminders.
Trip duration limit
For PHI and HCC policy holders leaving Canada, the trip duration limit in their contract applies. Clients must check their contract to ensure their trip duration falls within these limits. We won’t extend the trip limit even if travel home is restricted.
COVID-19 coverage
Our standard contracts don’t exclude or limit coverage for epidemics or pandemics. We’ll cover COVID-19 medical emergencies the same way we cover other medical emergencies outside of Canada.
COVID-19 tests
The Canadian government requires a negative COVID-19 test for all travelers at least 72 hours before arriving to Canada. This is regardless of whether they’re vaccinated or not. Our PHI and HCC plans don’t cover the cost of COVID-19 tests.
Trip cancellations or delays
PHI and HCC plans don’t cover the cost of:
