Vice-President, Human Resources
Sandy Delamere is Vice-President, Human Resources for Sun Life Financial Canada. Sandy is responsible for translating Canada’s business priorities into human resources strategies that meet the needs of the business and employees. She is also responsible for sharing her human resources expertise both within the Canadian lines of business as well as globally as a member of the HR Executive Council. She was appointed to this role in 2007.
One area Sandy is especially passionate about is creating a healthy workplace through a well rounded wellness program, which she believes can help Sun Life recruit and retain valued employees, increase employee engagement and reduce health care costs.
Prior to assuming this role, Sandy was Assistant Vice-President, Compensation and HR Services for Sun Life Financial Canada. She has held various business and human resources roles at Sun Life and Clarica, including a lead role in the integration of the companies’ human resources programs and policies. She joined The Mutual Group (renamed Clarica in 1999) in 1987.
Sandy plays a leadership role with the company’s four regional employee councils in Waterloo, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. She is also active in the local community, where she has volunteered with the Kitchener-Waterloo United Way, KW YWCA, Food Bank, and other non-profit organizations. Sandy also volunteers her time as a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Board of Directors.
