‘Disability Management:  Opportunities for Employer Action’ – third and final report released today.

As we communicated in the Special Edition Focus Update of September 23rd Sun Life is proud to have the opportunity to co-sponsor the Conference Board’s revealing three part study on absenteeism and the actions employers can take to tackle this issue.

The final report in the series, Disability Management:  Opportunities for Employer Action is released today.

“This is the third and final Conference Board report on disability management and benefits that we’ve co-sponsored,” says Marilee Mark, Vice-President, Market Development, Sun Life Group Benefits.

“The report highlights a number of gaps in current employer practices related to controlling absenteeism and lost productivity. In particular, the report identifies gaps in the management of mental health issues and chronic conditions, such as arthritis, cancer and diabetes. And the gap is larger for smaller employers, who are less likely to offer accident prevention, health promotion, and wellness programs. The upside is that with each gap there is a huge opportunity to invest in effective programs that can reduce the direct and indirect costs of workplace absence.”

Today’s report is being released at Conference Board’s Disability Management and Benefits 2013 conference.  Marilee Mark is delighted to be opening this event with her presentation titled: Taking stock – Workplace Absence and Disability.
