“This is the second of three Conference Board reports on disability management and benefits that we’ve co-sponsored,” says Marilee Mark, Vice-President, Market Development, Sun Life Group Benefits.

“It highlights the importance of managing absence and disability within a framework that recognizes the value of preventative strategies, early intervention and a supported recovery. The findings on the critical role that the bond between an employee and their work plays during recovery support our belief at Sun Life that work itself can play key role in a safe and sustainable return to the workplace.”

Marilee will be speaking in Toronto on October 28th at the Conference Board’s Disability Management and Benefits 2013 conference.  At this event, the third and final report Disability Management: Opportunities for Employer Action – which sets out detailed action steps that employers can take to better manage absence in the workplace – will be released and discussed.

Co-sponsoring this research is yet another example of how Sun Life is helping to further the group benefits industry and our understanding of the topic of disability in the workplace through our thought leadership platform, The Conversation.
