New feature for exiting plan members! Accidental Death Coverage complements My Life CHOICE transition product

Effective Monday May 17, exiting plan members applying to continue their life coverage with My Life CHOICE can enhance their life coverage with Accidental Death coverage.

We recently shared with you the overwhelming response to the launch of the My CHOICE suite of transition products. With this offering, exiting plan members can take advantage of our streamlined enrolment for their life, health and wealth needs.  This direct, ‘one and done’ approach provides plan sponsors and their exiting member with a solution that is fast and easy. And, to continue with our holistic approach to coverage, we’re building on our product offering for exiting plan members with the introduction of Accidental Death coverage available with My Life CHOICE.  We’ve also simplified the My Life CHOICE product by moving to one reduction in coverage instead of two. And, we’ve changed the My Life CHOICE plan from a group contract to an individual contract, providing more plan members with access to this unique offer.


Accidental Death (AD) benefit is now available!

When plan members call the Client Solution Centre to continue the amount of their current group life coverage with My Life CHOICE, AD will be offered to complement their life coverage.

AD coverage is available for new applicants to a maximum of $250,000 or the amount of My Life CHOICE coverage, whichever is less.


Product enhancements create a better experience for plan members

Previously with My Life CHOICE the benefit amount was reduced at age 66 and again at age 70.  We’ve simplified the product by eliminating the first benefit reduction at age 66 and leaving the second one at age 70.  Plan members will receive information on how the product works when they speak with a Financial Services Consultant in our Client Solution Centre. These product details will also be documented in the individual contract issued upon approval.

We have also changed the My Life CHOICE product from a group contract where plan members are issued certificates to individual contracts where the individual is the policyholder.  This change has no impact to those who currently own My Life CHOICE.   

The change was made to enable those not currently enrolled in a Sun Life Financial Group Life insurance program the opportunity to access My Life CHOICE – similar to how they can access My Health CHOICE Health and Dental.
