Organizational Changes at MFS
Plan sponsors may wish to consider whether this investment news has any implications for the investment options available within their plans. Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada purchases units of the fund listed below, which is established as a segregated fund in accordance with the Insurance Companies Act (Canada).
MFS recently announced the following portfolio management team changes:
- Effective May 1, 2018, Alison O'Neill Mackey, currently Director, North America Research, will join the portfolio management team of the Sun Life MFS U.S. Equity strategy. She brings more than 15 years of experience to the role. She joins current portfolio management team members Kevin Beatty and Ted Maloney, who will remain on the strategy. The strategy's investment philosophy, style and process is not expected to change as a result of her appointment.
- Effective May 1, 2018, Joseph Skorski, Equity Research Analyst in MFS' Japan office, will join the Sun Life MFS Global Growth portfolio management team. Mr. Skorski, who has 20 years of investment experience, will work closely with long-time managers David Antonelli and Jeffrey Constantino to manage the strategy going forward. The strategy's investment objective and approach is not expected to change as a result of this appointment.
- Effective September 1, 2018, current co-portfolio manager Matthew Sabel will relinquish his portfolio management responsibilities for the Sun Life MFS U.S. Growth Equity and Sun Life MFS U.S. Growth Hedged Equity strategies. Mr. Sabel, who joined the Growth Equity team in 2014, will remain at MFS and continue to serve as a portfolio manager on other strategies. Current co–portfolio managers Eric Fischman and Paul Gordon have been in their current roles since 2002 and 2017, respectively, and will remain on the strategies.
The Investment Solutions team has met with MFS to review the portfolio management team changes and does not have any significant concerns.
