On your bank statements, note:

  • Pre-authorized payments that leave your account each month.
  • Bill payments.
  • Cash withdrawals-where does this money go, what is it used for?
  • Debit card purchases.
  • Banking and debit fees.

On your credit card statements, note:

  • “Regular” monthly expenses like gas and groceries.
  • “Extra” monthly expenses like clothes.
  • Entertainment expenses like movie tickets.
  • Dining expenses like takeout or dinner out.
  • Interest payments
