Marla Besserer, Advisor Assistant

Marla Besserer

Marla is a graduate of the Integrated Marketing Communications program from Georgian College where she majored in design and social media. She joined John Near Annuity & Insurance Agency Ltd. and started her career in the insurance industry in June 2011.

Marla has over 5 years experience in marketing design and is responsible for building and maintaining John Near Annuity & Insurance Agency's social media presence. Building on her strong background in marketing, Marla focuses on the processes used by our team to create an exceptional client experience. Marla has previously worked on campaigns for the Newmarket Counsel and the trillium chapter of the BMW Club of Canada in addition to independent sale promotions for Home Depot and photography for billboard and print media.


Sunny Wishart, Licensed Administrative Assistant

Sunny Wishart

Sunny joined John Near Annuity & Insurance Agency Ltd. in 2011 after spending four years in retail banking as a senior personal banking officer. She began her career in the financial industry in 2004, working as an administrator for Wells Fargo Financial.

During her time in banking, Sunny became licensed to sell mutual funds and completed several courses, demonstrating her commitment to professional and personal development.

Beyond her career in the financial industry, Sunny holds a Bachelor of Music Honours in piano performance from Carleton University. She remains actively involved with music and has over a decade of experience teaching piano and music history.

Sarah Duquette, Administrative Assistant

Sarah Duquette

Sarah Duguette is a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa where she majored in communications with a specialization in public relations. As the newest addition to the John Near Annuity and Insurance Agency team, Sarah brings with her a strong background in customer service, ensuring new client accounts are prepared in a timely, accurate fashion.

While in Ottawa, in addition to her studies, Sarah was a highly active volunteer for local charities such as the Ottawa Humane Society, Harmony House and the Ottawa Mission.
