Community involvement

Don Nelson

Much of my community involvement is related to my Christian foundation. I have been a church elder, and have been on committees and boards of church and Christian schools. I am currently a Director of a Christian School Foundation, and been chair of the Investment Advisory Committee for years. I am also on the Fonthill Active Transportation committee, where we devise ways to encourage residents to use trails, bike, hike, roller blade and walk.

In my personal time I enjoy golf, skiing, walking the dog, and am always working in the yard. I am now a member of the local Golf Course, where our office sponsors a Sun Life Financial Men's golf league, for the second year in a row.

Doyle & Nelson Financial and King, Prior Financial raise $6,000.00 for Rose City kids

On April 14, 2010, Sun Life Financial advisors hosted a seminar event in the newly renovated Rose City Kids Park Theatre on East Main St. in Welland, Ontario. Over 200 clients and guests came out for the opportunity to hear top Investment Fund Managers speak about changes in the economy, and what it means to our investments and to us here in Niagara. 

During the seminar, a presentation about Rose City Kids was given, where guests had the opportunity to support Rose City Kids. In total, $6,000 was raised!

Rose City Kids is a non-profit organization that is located in the heart of Welland in the Park Theatre. The goal is to make a difference in the lives of children impacting the direction and outcome of each child that attends the program. This program is free for children between the ages of 5-12. Children who live within the service area have the opportunity to ride a Rose City Kids bus, together, to and from the program.
