Sun Life Institute™

Introducing the Sun Life Institute™

The Sun Life Institute is positioned to become the leading health and wellness knowledge exchange for Canadian employers by providing evidence and insight that will influence positive outcomes in the overall health and long term well-being of working Canadians.

The Sun Life Institute will collaborate with academic, public, private, and wellness communities to promote research and knowledge sharing.

Building the business case for worksite wellness

Sun Life is pleased to announce its partnership with the Richard Ivey School of Business to conduct groundbreaking research on the return-on-investment (ROI) of workplace wellness programs for Canadian employers.

Although studies have been conducted in other countries and on specific aspects of productivity, this research will provide much needed quantifiable evidence on the impact and benefits of workplace wellness programs on the long-term health and well-being of Canadians.

In addition to research initiatives, the Sun Life Institute is establishing an Advisory Council of leaders and key influencers to provide insights, identify opportunities and challenges, share best practices, participate in research activities, and enhance market awareness of workplace health and wellness overall.

The work and findings from the Sun Life Institute will be available through this website, and includes the following key highlights:

  • Sun Life Canadian Health Index™ – an annual independent study that profiles the attitudes, perceptions and behaviours of Canadians and their health.
  • Sun Life-Buffett National Wellness Survey – an analysis of the status of workplace wellness and health promotion in Canada.
  • Richard Ivey School of Business research reports – these reports share findings from the preliminary empirical data review and other key findings including the return-on-investment results.
