Sun Life’s Preferred Pharmacy Network coming on October 15

As we announced last month, Sun Life’s Preferred Pharmacy Network (PPN) for specialty drugs will be available on October 15, 2014. Most Pay-Direct Drug (PDD) card plans that have implemented Enhanced Prior Authorization or our Evidence-based drug plan Special Authorization program are eligible. You’ll find more details on the Sun Life PPN in last month’s announcement.

Your plan is eligible

We’re writing to you because your drug plan is eligible to participate in the Sun Life PPN. This exciting offering will roll out to your plan at no additional charge, and with no need for a plan revision, on October 15.

Additional information about services offered in Quebec

Plan sponsors with some plan members based in Quebec will see a few differences in what will be available to their plan members:

  • Plan members residing outside of Quebec will have full access to all of the potential benefits offered as part of the Sun Life PPN.
  • Plan members residing in Quebec will have the opportunity to consent to co-pay assistance counselling provided by McKesson Canada. This includes assistance with navigating and applying for government and manufacturer financial assistance programs. They will not have access to reduced claim costs on specialty drugs through the Sun Life PPN or the other value-added services.

Is the Sun Life PPN right for your plan?

If the Sun Life PPN is not right for your plan at this time, please contact your Sun Life group benefits representative by September 5, 2014, and ask them to opt you out. It’s as simple as that. When you are ready to offer the Sun Life PPN at a later date, just speak with your group benefits representative to include it on your plan.

We’ll be in touch next month with a reminder of the rollout. Additionally, after the rollout, we will communicate directly with your plan members who may be eligible to benefit from the Sun Life PPN because they have claimed for specialty drugs.
