Your plan members get more claims options!
Claims can now be submitted directly from healthcare service providers’ offices
We announced the Atlantic Provinces launch on July 30, 2012. Sun Life is now pleased to extend the TELUS Health eClaims provider submission service across Canada.
More e-claims options
As of September 17, 2012, your plan members got even more electronic channels available for claims submissions.
Healthcare providers covered under the new service
Currently, physiotherapists, chiropractors and optometrists and opticians who are registered with the TELUS Health eClaims network, can make e-claims submissions on behalf of their patients.
More than 10,000 service providers are registered in Canada with the TELUS Health eClaims network – this is approximately one-third of all service providers nationally. Your plan members should have convenient access to many of these providers.
How it works
Physiotherapists, chiropractors, optometrists and opticians can submit your plan members’ health claims – right at point of sale – through a website managed by TELUS Health. These claims are sent electronically to Sun Life where they are quickly adjudicated. This means your plan members’ out of pocket expenses could be eliminated or reduced – depending on their benefits plan coverage. This process makes it more convenient for your plan members and they will not have to fill out and submit paper claims forms!
Claims submitted online are subject to scrutiny by Sun Life’s fraud technology controls and capabilities. This provides strong claims protection and helps to better protect your group benefits plan from the risk of fraud. The fraud technology, FastForward PlanProtect™, continuously monitors electronic claims using advanced data analytics to detect unusual claiming patterns. When suspicious patterns are identified by the technology, they are flagged for close examination by Sun Life’s fraud team.
Communicate with your plan members
We encourage you to have your plan members try the new provider service. We have a communication about the new service for you to share with them as appropriate. Also included is a one page flyer that provides general information about how the provider service works.
