Additions to mobile app help meet your members’ growing needs

The use of smartphones is rapidly growing in Canada[1]:

  • In June, there were 18 million smartphone users in Canada, up 12 per cent since the same time last year.
  • Canadians are ranked second in the world for the amount of time each one of us spends online (33 hours per month)
  • Of all the time Canadians spend online, 49 per cent is tied to mobile devices.

To help meet plan members’ growing use of their smartphones and improve their overall mobile user experience, on December 7, Sun Life’s mobile app will have new functionality and content.

The enhancements are part of Sun Life’s commitment to providing your members with all of the options they need to interact with their plan and Sun Life, in whatever way they prefer – mobile, web, or by phoning Sun Life’s call centres. 

What’s new? Depending on plan set up:

  • The main menu will include ‘my additional services’ which provides convenient mobile access to value-add products and services that complement members’ core workplace plan. Adding this access in the main menu comes as a result of seeing the high volume of members taking advantage of ’my additional services’ on mysunlife.ca.  Note that a selection of third party offers will be displayed on the mobile app, which will be a subset of the full suite of products and services shown on the full member services website.  Sponsor exclusions will be respected.
  • The addition of new educational content, including calculators, videos and articles to help members make informed decisions about their finances and health. These tools are also accessible on the desktop version of mysunlife.ca.
  • The addition of Group Retirement Savings’ first transactional feature – joint members can now make lump-sum contributions to their accounts. Your members will have a service that other workplace plan members don’t have as this function means that Sun Life will be the only workplace plan provider offering members the ability to complete both Group Benefits (GB) and GRS transactions using a single sign on.
  • The addition of a FAQ section that gives members quick access to common mobile app questions and answers.
  • Members will have a more consistent streamlined user experience as the mobile app better mirrors the features available on mysunlife.ca.

Drug coverage information available now

my Sun Life Mobile now provides members with convenient drug information on the go! This recent enhancement lets members look up a specific drug by name or DIN (drug identification number) to view their coverage, potential alternatives and detailed drug information, as well as giving them access to a history of drug claims submitted over the past 12 months.  These features work together providing comprehensive drug coverage information to help plan members prepare for discussions with their health care professional about their prescription medications.
 

Also coming in a few weeks...the public section on mysunlife.ca is going mobile!

When your members access the public section of the mysunlife.ca website using a mobile device, they'll soon have access to the same great articles, tools and helpful information as on your desktop, but in a mobile-friendly view*.
