Enjoy a summer of music with Sun Life Financial
(MONTREAL, April 29, 2010) - Sun Life Financial is proud to be continuing our tradition of making the arts more accessible. Music is this summer's cultural theme and we're boldly partnering in three major events that are sure to draw big crowds. Tunes will be reverberating through both Montreal and Quebec City this summer season!From April 30 to August 29 we will be presenting the extraordinary exhibition "WE WANT MILES" Miles Davis vs. Jazz at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), a retrospective made possible through a partnership between the MMFA and the Cité de la musique in France.
This multimedia exhibition gives visitors an opportunity to experience highlights of the life and career of Miles Davis in a setting designed in its entirety around the brilliant sounds of his legendary music. It's a multidimensional journey of sight and sound that pays tribute to an artist who is still widely admired and continues to be an inspiration to jazz enthusiasts around the world.
The Musée de la civilisation in Quebec City welcomes Riff. When Africa Got us Groovin' from June 2 to March 13, 2011, presented by Sun Life Financial. This foray into African music, blended with the best of North and South American cultural influences, will be a musical showcase for the impact of these faraway beats on the most popular musical genres of our time. Angolan djembe and Gabonese xylophone meld with Louis Armstrong’s trumpet, Gerry Boulet’s organ and Jimi Hendrix’s guitar at this unmissable event tracing the history of musical creation that has transcended borders for centuries.
The 13th edition of the Midis Financière Sun Life kicks off on June 23, 2010 in Phillips Square, which will play host for the second consecutive year. Our mission: to offer a musical break to downtown Montreal workers and visitors.
The musical styles of well-known artists and new talents alike will be pulsating through the streets of Montreal every Wednesday between 12:10 and 1:00 p.m. until August 25. On the heels of Latin rhythms come the sounds of blues, rock and Latin swing, to delight both passersby and diehard fans of the Midis Financière Sun Life.
