Waiver of premium
If you become totally disabled before you reach age 65, your Term Life Insurance coverage and your dependent child’s Term Life Insurance coverage may continue without the payment of premiums as long as you remain totally disabled. Read more.
This coverage will continue without payment of premiums, from the date total disability begins, until the date you cease to be totally disabled or the date you fail to give Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada proof of your continued total disability, whichever is earlier.
Dependent Life coverage will also continue without payment of premiums, as long as your Life coverage is continued without payment of premiums, but not after the Dependent Life benefit is terminated.
If your Term Life Insurance, or your spouse’s Term Life Insurance coverage ends for any reason other than your request, you or your spouse may apply to convert the coverage to an individual Life Insurance policy with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada without providing proof of good health. The request must be made within 31 days of the end of the Term Life Insurance coverage and prior to age 65.
If you or your insured spouse are terminally ill and expected to die within 12 months or less, you may receive an advance of up to 50% of the Term Life Insurance benefit up to a maximum of $50,000, subject to approval by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.
