Service Quality Measurement Group Inc. (SQM), a respected customer satisfaction surveying vendor, awards a Sun Life Financial group customer care representative CSR of the Year.

We’re proud and with good reason! From over 1,500 nominations across 200 organizations, two of our Group Benefits Customer Care Centre (GBCCC) representatives, Derek Tutton and Debbie Bender, were selected as one of the top 11 finalists for CSR of the Year, by SQM.

We have a winner!

Not only were they nominated, but Derek earned the prestigious honor of being named CSR of the Year at the SQM awards gala held November 18, in Toronto. This is an outstanding achievement, and we’re also extremely proud of all our customer care centre employees, who go above and beyond every day.

SQM benchmarks customer satisfaction and call centre quality through surveys on behalf of over 350 organizations internationally. SQM’s annual awards for world class service are highly regarded in the industry.

Finalists for CSR of the Year are selected annually based on stringent world class call centre standards and a compelling customer experience story.

But the awards don’t stop there…

In addition to Derek’s well-earned recognition, SQM awarded our Group Retirement Services Customer Care Centre (GRSCCC) a world class call centre certification again this year. This means that 80% or more of plan members surveyed in 2008 by SQM rated their call experience as “very satisfied”.

Only 18 of the 350 call centres benchmarked were awarded this honor – a distinction that Group Retirement Services has now earned two years in a row. Sun Life Financial was the first Canadian recordkeeper to achieve world class status, and remains the only organization in the Group Retirement Services industry to have achieved this.
