HealthyRETURNS is helping our clients win in the workplace. We’re delighted to report that two of our clients have been recognized for their efforts.

Each year, Sun Life Financial sponsors the Who’s Who in Workplace Health Awards – awards designed to recognize individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership and innovation in workplace health. This year, two of our clients were recognized at the 2009 awards.
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is a vibrant community just north of Toronto. Priding itself on being a “people place”, the Town corporation wanted to make that vision a reality for its 100-plus employees by having them truly embrace a healthy lifestyle. The results have been tremendous. According to the Town Manager, Jay Currier, “Through screening clinics, lifestyle programs and leadership support, we have been able to promote employee behaviour change and realize significant improvements in health risks such as cholesterol and blood pressure.” The Town was nominated for a 2009 Who’s Who in Workplace Health award, and we congratulate them on their well-deserved nomination.
The Economical Insurance Group
The Economical Insurance Group is one of the largest property and casualty insurance companies in Canada, and we salute them as this year’s Who’s Who in Workplace Health award winner in the Employer category. It’s an award that acknowledges The Economical Insurance Group’s commitment to the concept of organizational health – even in the midst of a challenging economy – and speaks to the powerful impact that leadership and inspiration can have. Says Jennifer Hubbard, Manager, Human Resources Corporate, “Leadership and communication can make or break a wellness program. By leveraging the comprehensive communication tools that come with HealthyRETURNS, we were able to truly engage our people. Upwards of 70% of our 2,400 employees took part in these initiatives.”

Congratulations to both plan sponsors who have shown what it means to do it right. They developed comprehensive, thoughtful strategies, invested the time to understand their employee health risks, tackled those risks with targeted programs, and measured results. They supported the journey with leadership, vision and enthusiasm, and they continue to help employees sustain the gains they’ve made.

Sun Life launched HealthyRETURNS, a comprehensive suite of assessment, health promotion and attendance support products and services, to help clients like The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury and The Economical Insurance Group encourage employees to adopt healthier habits and, in turn, build stronger, healthier organizations. Along the way, we’ve learned from their journey, and HealthyRETURNS has become better and stronger for our association with such wonderful partners.
