Website enhancements provide speedy access to drug-related information and coverage

We’re very pleased to be launching two new industry-leading features to our Plan Member Services website. These new features will help make your members’ online experience richer and more responsive. They will be available through Benefits Explorer, our online coverage information tool, starting May 7, 2007.

Introducing …

  • Drug Look Up, a quick and easy way for plan members to check whether they (and their dependents) are covered for a particular drug, and
  • Drug-Related Information, a direct link from the Drug Look Up feature to reliable, doctor-approved  information on thousands of drugs and the conditions or diseases they treat.*

How do the new features work?
When your plan members want to check whether a drug is covered under the plan, they can search for it by name or drug identification number (DIN). Drug Look Up will display all matching drugs and indicate whether plan members are covered. From the results page, they can link to information about the drugs queried and the conditions they treat.

Pay-Direct Drug (PDD) plans

  • Plan members indicate whether they are querying coverage for themselves or a dependent, then search by drug name or DIN.
  • Drug Look Up produces a list of all matching drugs and indicates the percentage covered for each. Where a generic alternative is available, the search result indicates a generic will be covered.
  • The Drug-Related Information feature links members directly to additional information.

Reimbursement plans

  • Plan members search by drug name or DIN—results include the plan member and dependents automatically.
  • Drug Look Up produces a list of all matching drugs and shows coverage eligibility as “Yes” or “No” for each drug listed. Where a generic alternative is available, the search result indicates that a generic will be covered.
  • The Drug-Related Information feature links members directly to additional information.

Communicating with plan members
We’ve attached a communication that you may choose to share with your plan members. It includes details for both pay-direct and reimbursement drug plans; please feel free to delete or revise any information to reflect your plan’s design.

Questions
If you have any questions about these great new features or about the Health & Wellness Companion, don’t hesitate to contact your Sun Life Financial group representative.

*The Drug-Related Information feature pulls together a custom display page based on information from the Health & Wellness Companion. If you do not have the Health & Wellness Companion enabled, links to Drug-Related Information will not be available.
