Quebec drug plan amendments will have minimal impact on plan sponsors

Quebec has made a change to the out-of-pocket maximum for its basic drug plan – Régie de l’assurance maladie (RAMQ). The co-insurance amount remains the same. The change, effective July 1, 2012, affects plan sponsors who provide drug coverage to Quebec plan members.

Increase of annual out-of-pocket maximum from $963 to $992

Drug claims from Quebec plan members will now be subject to the new out-of-pocket maximum of $992

Co-insurance (amount RAMQ pays) remains the same at 68%

No change – drug claims continue to be paid at 68%


We’re in the process of updating our systems to reflect this change. There will be no immediate rate adjustments due to the changes and we expect minimal impact on claim experience.
