New paramedical services available for e-claims

On September 22, 2013, the plan member online experience will be extended to include claims for acupuncture and osteopath services. This will be added automatically for plans that offer coverage for these services and already have paramedical e-claims enabled.

What’s new?

If your plan offers coverage for acupuncture and/or osteopath services, your plan members will be able to make claims online specifically for these services. These claims will now be eligible for instant adjudication.  This brings us one step closer to a totally paperless — and greener — medical and dental claiming experience.

E-claims online

Claims for the following paramedical services can be submitted online at mysunlife.ca by any plan member where this coverage exists under their plan:

  • Acupuncturist (NEW – e-claims available after September 22)
  • Chiropodist
  • Chiropractor
  • Massage Therapist
  • Naturopath
  • Osteopath (NEW – e-claims available after September 22)
  • Physiotherapist
  • Podiatrist
  • Psychologist

Claiming online is faster, easier and saves paper.  If a plan member is signed up for direct deposit, their claim is deposited right into their back account – usually within 48 hours!

Access benefits online or on-the-go!

Remind your plan members that they can access their benefits and make claims online at mysunlife.ca.  If they haven’t registered yet, they simply register online at mysunlife.ca with their contract number and member ID. 

Depending on your plan, plan members can also use their smartphone to access benefits and make claims.  These very same enhancements will be available on smartphones later this year. Plan members can go to mysunlife.ca/mobile to learn more about downloading the free my Sun Life Mobile app.

If you don’t have e-claims enabled

Now is the time to consider implementing e-claims.  Plan members have told us they appreciate the tools and information on our Plan Member Services website, especially the ability to submit claims for instant adjudication.  Enabling e-claims will help enhance plan member satisfaction and help promote you as an employer of choice.  Contact your Sun Life group benefits representative about enabling e-claims and providing your plan members with the most effective benefits experience possible.
