New Health Centre tab coming to GRS plan members in the my Sun Life mobile app

Beginning Fall 2017, Sun Life Group Retirement Services (GRS) plan members will be able to access easy to use, at-your-fingertips tools and services in a new Health Centre tab.

These new features in the my Sun Life mobile app align with our purpose of helping Canadians achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

About the Digital Health Solutions program
Launched in 2016 as a new business area within Sun Life, Digital Health Solutions (DHS) is focused on helping Canadians access the latest digital capabilities and innovations to take care of their health and well-being. Through partnerships with innovative health-related start-ups and organizations, and along with Sun Life's own leading digital and health capabilities, DHS seeks to put new and better tools, products and services in the hands of Canadians that empower them to achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

This program puts innovations and features, such as Provider search and Provider ratings, in the hands of Sun Life plan members and has been available to Group Benefit (GB) and joint (GB/GRS) plan members since 2016. So far, the usage is impressive:

  • since August 2016 the Provider ratings feature has received over 1.6M reviews;
  • since November 2016 over 60,000 plan members use the Provider search function each month.

"This app is so great! I love the new provider search feature!"

Provider search
Saves time for members with easy, convenient access to:

  • search for a wide-range of health care providers, and if other Sun Life plan members have already visited and voluntarily reviewed a provider, see the average rating each provider has received from other plan members.
  • over 90,000 providers across the country, using their current location based on their phone's GPS geolocation, or by entering a location like an address or postal code.

Drug lookup
Members quickly and easily find useful and trusted information on medications, including side effects, usage and contraindications, giving members the information they need to have easier, richer conversations with health care providers. This feature also provides cost options for medications, helping members make more informed health and financial decisions.

In addition to the successful Provider search and Drug lookup features that have already launched, two more tools will be available to all plan members in September in the Fitness & wellness section:

MINDBODY
A leading technology platform for clients to find and book appointments with wellness providers, MINDBODY will be available September as a pilot program to Ontario plan members whose language preference is English. Members can use MINDBODY to find, engage and transact with wellness providers in their local communities.

LIFT
Offering virtual group and individual fitness training, LIFT offers live, online, customized fitness training, from any location and on-demand. LIFT helps all Canadian Sun Life plan members enjoy the most efficient, challenging, fun and safe fitness programs built for their needs.

We're making it easier than ever for plan members to manage their health and wealth, quickly and easily, from the palm of their hands
We are continuously working on features that are tied to user stories to meet the evolving needs and wants of Sun Life members. More capabilities will follow in the coming months, including a version for all Canadians (for those who aren't existing Sun Life plan members). Details on upcoming innovations will be shared as they become available.
