Organizational changes at Invesco Canada Ltd.

Plan sponsors may wish to consider whether this investment update has any implications for the investment options available within their plan(s). Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada purchases units of the funds listed below which are established as segregated funds in accordance with the Insurance Companies Act (Canada).

 

On March 8, 2012, Invesco Canada Ltd. announced that Dana Love, Head of Global Equities since August 2011 and portfolio manager on the Trimark Fund since 2004 (lead portfolio manager since 2008), would be leaving the firm.

 

Effective the same date, Michael Hatcher assumed lead portfolio manager responsibilities of the Trimark Fund. He will be working with the existing management team of Darren McKierman (co-manager), Jeff Feng (co-manager) and Kevin Kaminski (portfolio analyst).

 

Mr. Hatcher was appointed to the Trimark investment leadership team as Director of Research in May 2011 and will continue in this role. He will now take on the additional responsibility of Head of Global Equities on the team.

 

The Investment Leadership Team now consists of the following senior portfolio managers:

 

  • Rex Chong, Head of Fixed Income
  • Ian Hardacre, Head of Canadian Equities
  • Michael Hatcher, Director of Research and Head of Global Equities
  • Rob Mikalachki, Head of Small-Cap Equities

 

Background

On September 16, 2011, in a communication entitled Leadership team changes at Invesco Trimark Ltd., we announced the departure of Graham Anderson, Chief Investment Officer (CIO). In the same communication, we announced that Dana Love would join the Trimark investment leadership team as Head of Global Equities. With this new leadership team structure in place, there were no plans to hire another CIO.

 

Michael Hatcher has more than 15 years of investment management experience and is lead portfolio manager of Trimark Europlus Fund and Trimark Global Fundamental Equity Fund/Class. Previously he held the position of Vice-President at an established asset management firm and was a senior member of the team that was responsible for managing more than $400 million in European equities.
